2016 KAUFFMAN AWARD PRESENTED TO NANCY MEINHARDT
Nancy
lived in Chicago her entire life prior to moving to Aiken seven years
ago. She received her formal education at Chicago's Roosevelt
University where she graduated with a major in Communications.
Nancy
met her eventual husband John when both worked for the Quaker Oats
company. Later, Nancy worked as Customer Service Supervisor for
American Express Travel Related Services, then held various positions
including Human Resources Specialist for defense contractor Northrop
Grumman Corporation.
The Meinhardts purchased property in Aiken
in 2007, built their dream house, and moved here in 2009. They joined
the Academy in 2010 soon after arriving here.
Nancy and John
quickly became active members of the Academy’s Curriculum Committee and
served together as Curriculum Co-Chairs for the 2012-2013 academic year
as well as representing the Committee on the Academy Board for that
year.
John and Nancy Meinhardt
For
the last two years, Nancy has been back on the Board as Public
Relations Chair (now renamed Publicity Chair). Her efforts over the
past two years have resulted in more than twenty well-written articles
about the Academy being published in
The Aiken Standard and other area periodicals such as
Life in Woodside Plantation
magazine. Her submissions, which shared information on both class
schedules and specific class activities, included many of her
photographs and have both augmented community awareness of the Academy
and helped increase Academy enrollment.
When not working on her Academy activities, Nancy's hobbies include reading, collecting Royal memorabilia and travel.
Nancy is a highly motivated and dedicated worker who is very deserving of the Academy’s Kauffman Award for outstanding service.

Nancy Meinhardt receives the Academy for Lifelong Learning's Kauffman Award for 2016 from Past President Carl Fields.
